ABSTRACT:   The theory of Groebner bases is very useful today in providing computational tools to help solve a wide array of problems in mathematics, science, engineering and computer science.  In this talk, I will discuss what a Groebner Basis is, where you have seen them before, and then discuss some interesting applications of Groebner Basis theory to Map coloring and solving Sudoku puzzles.
