Undergraduate Study

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers the B.A. and B.S. degrees with a major in mathematics and the B.S. degree with a major in statistics.  There is a program for a major in mathematics that qualifies a student for initial teaching licensure.  A concentration in computational sciences is also available.  Minors are offered in mathematics and statistics.

To help students in schedling classes for Spring 2008, the following course map shows available offerings and prerequisites:

The Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies (IDLS) major is recommended for students interested in early or middle grades education. The IDLS major requires a collection of lower-division courses along with two upper-level concentrations.

Graduate Study

A Master of Education in Mathematics degree is also offered that prepares secondary teachers for positions of instructional leadership as master teachers of mathematics. The program extends the professional competence of secondary mathematics teachers through an in-depth study of mathematics and mathematics teaching and learning.
