The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at James Madison University invites applications for three tenure track positions, starting August 2010. Candidates from all areas of mathematics or statistics are invited to apply. Applicants should have an appropriate doctoral degree in one of the mathematical sciences.

Candidates should have demonstrated success in teaching and potential in scholarship. Interest in participation in the department's active undergraduate research program is a priority. One position will require an interest in teaching mathematics content courses for future elementary and middle grades teachers and in working with mathematics educators.

James Madison University is a comprehensive, coeducational state university, located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Enrollment is approximately 18000. The primary focus of the department is undergraduate teaching, with an active research program in that context. The department includes very active groups in statistics, applied and computational mathematics, and pure mathematics, with opportunities for cross-departmental projects and cooperation.
