John Beachy at Northern Illinois University has an abstract algebra
on-line page which contains many definitions and theorems. There
is also an entire list of internet
resources for modern algebra at the math forum at Swarthmore
College.
Advice
- Do some homework at a fixed time and in a fixed (quiet) place every
day.
- Study with other people.
- If you have "formulas" to memorize, write them out on a sheet of
paper and try to reproduce that sheet without looking at it.
- When preparing for a test or quiz, pick out problems at random
(either in the homework or the examples in the book) and try to do
them as if you were in an exam situation (i.e., no peeking at
notes).
- After a test or quiz, work through all the problems you missed
until you can do them correctly.
