I received my B.S. degree from the University of MichiganDearborn in mathematics. Not wanting to work for a corporation, I entered graduate school at the University of Wyoming in mathematics. I received a M.S. degree in mathematics and then a Ph.D. in applied mathematics.

My first ‘job’ was a post-doctoral visiting professor at the University of CaliforniaDavis. I did that for 3 years and then I applied for a tenure-track position. I am now a full professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at that university; James Madison University. Also, I am currently the director of the Center for Computational Mathematics and Modeling at JMU.

I have worked in several areas of applied mathematics. My main interest is in helping others to learn applied mathematics to help them solve their problems and to help make the earth a better place to live. I especially enjoy studying initial value ordinary and partial differential equations. I  have publications in several areas of applied mathematics and I have received several grants to study areas of applied mathematics.
