a. Write the algebra expression for the following.
b. Prove that the algebraic expression is equal to the answer.
1. Take a number.
Double it.
Add 9.
Subtract 3.
Divide by 2.Subtract your original number.
Your answer should be three.
2. Use a calculator.
Enter the first three digits of your phone number( not the area code)
Multiply by 80.
Add one
Multiply by 250.
Add the last four digits of your phone number.
Since you did that so well, add the last four digits of your phone number again.
Subtract 250.
Divide the total by two.
The answer is your phone number.
3. Write down your house number.
Multiply by 2.
Add the number of days in a week.
Multiply by 50.
Add your age.
Subtract 365 (number of days in a year).
Add 15.
The answer is your house number followed by your age.
4. Choose any three digit numbers whose leading digit is not zero.
Double the number.
Add 5.
Multiply by 50.
Add your age.
Add 365.
Subtract 615.
The answer is your number followed by your age.
